Family and friends remember William Billy Collins as a man whose warmth, kindness and easy good humour left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Late of Riversdale Park in Tramore, Billy was remembered again and again as “one of life’s gentlemen,” a man who was “always friendly & in good humour whenever we met,” and someone who was “always ready for a chat,” whether on the Prom, in town, or wherever paths happened to cross. Many spoke fondly of his welcoming smile and generous nature, while another tribute captured him beautifully as “a true gentleman who had a word for everyone,” the kind of person who made people feel seen, valued and glad of the meeting. Billy was one of those familiar and much loved faces in Tramore whose company brought comfort, laughter and connection to everyday life.
He was also remembered with great affection for his love of music, his contribution to choir and musical societies, and for being a man who “loved a laugh and a song,” bringing joy wherever he went. Another message described him as “a lovely man with a great musical talent,” while those who cared for him in recent months spoke movingly of how, even through difficult days, he still arrived with a smile and always had time for a chat. Above all, Billy was a devoted husband to Pam, a much loved father to Angie and Sean, and a proud grandfather whose family was the centre of his world. Though deeply missed, the warmth of his spirit, the sound of his laughter and the many kind words now spoken in his memory ensure that Billy’s gentle presence will remain close in the hearts of all who loved him.
Late of Riversdale Park, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Billy passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Monday the 27th of April 2026. RIP.
