Richard (Dick, Sonny) Brennan
Family and friends remember Richard Brennan, known to many as Dick and to lifelong friends as Sonny, as a devoted husband, proud father and grandfather, and a man whose steady presence brought reassurance wherever he went. Late of Sweetbriar Lawn and formerly of Waterford City Council, Waterford Castle and Faithlegg Golf Clubs, he gave decades of service to the life of his community, carrying out his work with integrity, intelligence and quiet commitment. Predeceased by his first wife Mary O’Rorke, he later shared deep companionship and loyalty with his beloved wife Ena. To his children John, Tom and Margaret, and to his treasured grandchildren and great-grandchildren, he was a guiding influence whose advice was measured, whose humour was dry and whose encouragement was constant. Whether singing with the Waterford Male Voice Choir, contributing thoughtful letters to the local papers, or offering his experience generously to colleagues and friends, Dick brought dignity and purpose to every chapter of his life. The messages shared in his memory speak clearly of the man he was. “He was a gentleman, may he rest in peace.” Another wrote, “A genuine man who was always a pleasure to meet.” Friends remembered that “he lived a long and fruitful life and will be long remembered,” while one tribute captured the affection held for him across generations: “Such a wonderful friend to so many.” Through family, friendship and faithful service, Dick leaves behind more than memories. He leaves the example of a life well lived, grounded in loyalty, guided by principle, and remembered with deep respect and lasting gratitude.

Thank you for including us in this heartfelt and beautiful gathering. It was incredibly moving to hear the many loving and cherished memories shared by your family and friends. Although we did not have the pleasure of meeting Bianca Rosa, we can see through the stories and tributes just how special she was. Bianca Rosa’s spirit and the profound impact she had on those around her were evident in every word spoken. The warmth, love, and admiration that everyone expressed painted a vivid picture of a life well-lived and a heart that touched so many...
