Family and friends remember Paddy Harney as a cheerful soul with a kind heart, a loyal friend, and a neighbour who brought warmth wherever he went. Originally from the Franciscan Friary in Waterford City and later of St. Otterans Terrace, Tramore, Paddy was known for his good humour, quick wit, and the quiet joy he found in everyday moments. Whether helping out at the boxing club, lending a hand at Morris’s coal yard, or greeting neighbours with a wave and a story, Paddy’s presence brought comfort and laughter. One neighbour fondly recalled him as always laughing and cheerful, while another shared, I have so many memories of Paddy’s great humour, friendliness and wit.
He leaves behind a legacy not just of kindness, but of genuine community spirit, the kind you cannot fake and will never forget. Paddy never asked for much but gave everything he could, and it’s clear from the heartfelt words shared that his quiet presence made a powerful mark. His family can take comfort in knowing how truly appreciated and deeply loved he was. He had a way of making everyone feel seen, never in a rush, always present. Tramore won’t be the same without his gentle wave, his familiar voice, or the light he brought to even the smallest moments. Love like his doesn’t leave; it lingers in memories, in conversations, and in the hearts of those he held closest.
Late of St. Otterans Terrace, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of The Franciscan Friary, Lady Lane, Waterford City. Paddy passed peacefully on Monday the 6th of October 2025. RIP.
