Patricia Sylvia Jean Byrne (née Allison)

Family and friends remember Patricia as kind, compassionate and endlessly curious, with a wonderful sense of humour, an innate sense of style and a genuine interest in the world around her. She loved books and learning, discovering other cultures and, in particular, Egyptian history. She delighted in nature and birds and retained her curiosity and enthusiasm for life throughout her years.

Patricia’s greatest joy by far was her son Paul, whom she adored. He brought her enormous happiness, and caring for him was a hugely important part of her life. Anyone fortunate enough to know Paul will understand just how much joy his smile could bring her.
Having lived previously in Rutland and Stamford in England, Patricia made her home in Tramore, a place she came to love deeply. She greatly enjoyed being part of the local U3A community and valued the neighbours and friends she made here over the years. She loved her home and garden, surrounded herself with books, and took great pleasure in the life and friendships she had built in Tramore. Patricia was generous with her time and quietly supportive of people who needed her. She cared deeply about people, and her kindness often showed itself without fuss or fanfare.

The messages shared since Patricia’s passing have brought their own lovely glimpses of how others knew and remembered her. One recalled Patricia’s involvement in helping to establish a Special Olympics swimming group for young people in Tramore, while another remembered the chats they shared at the Wednesday lectures in Waterford’s Medieval Museum. Others described her as “always cheerful and amusing” and as a wonderful and kind neighbour with “an exceptional and enquiring mind.” One neighbour wrote simply of how dearly her chats would be missed – a lovely reflection of the conversations and connections Patricia made in everyday life.
She was, quite simply, a lady.

Late of Church Road, Tramore, Co. Waterford, and formerly of Rutland and Stamford, England, Patricia passed peacefully on Wednesday, 19 August 2026.
