Family and friends remember Mary Fitzgerald as a graceful and grounded soul whose presence brought quiet comfort and unwavering love to all who knew her. Born in Cuffesgrange, Kilkenny, and later settling in Moonvoy, Tramore, Mary’s life was shaped by family, faith and kindness. She was a devoted wife to George and a proud mother to John, Gerry, Frank, Kevin and Kieran. Predeceased by her beloved daughter Olivia, she carried both strength and softness through the hardest times. Mary’s home was one where the doors stayed open, and grandchildren were surrounded by affection and quiet wisdom. She was deeply proud of all fourteen of them, each one held in her heart with gentleness and joy. Her neighbours remember her for her warmth, her chats at the gate and the way she always made time for others.
She is remembered with love in the messages shared: “Mrs Fitzgerald, you were a lovely person. Many chats I had with you, thinking of your family today and every day.” Another wrote, “A great friend and neighbour for many years. Rest in peace, Mary.” A message from Kilkenny said, “Our deepest sympathy to all the Fitzgerald family on the sad loss of dear Mary. May she be in the safe arms of Jesus.” A local friend offered: “My deepest condolences to all the family. Mary was a lovely, friendly lady who loved her family. May her gentle soul rest in peace.” And one neighbour summed up the feeling of many: “Sincere condolences on Mary’s passing. She was such a lovely lady. May she rest in peace. Thinking of you all at this sad time.” Through her care, her courage and the deep bonds she nurtured, Mary leaves behind a legacy of love and strength that lives on in all who knew her.
Late of Moonvoy, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of Farmley, Cuffesgrange, Co. Kilkenny. Mary passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday the 4th of February 2026. RIP.
