Family and friends remember Louis David Carroll, known to many simply as Dave, as a devoted husband, father and grandfather whose warmth, intelligence and gentle humour left a lasting impression on all who knew him. Late of Carrigeenlea on the Cliff Road in Tramore and formerly a respected colleague in A.I.B., Dave built a life centred on family, friendship and quiet integrity. Predeceased by his parents Noreen and Thomas, he shared a lifetime of love with his wife Ethna and was deeply proud of his children Davey, Elaine, Anne, Gareth and Tom. His grandchildren Robyn, Ethan, Ella, Issie, Jack, Tom, Zoe, Tadhg and Imogen brought him enormous joy and were a constant source of pride. Among colleagues, neighbours and friends he was known for his thoughtful nature, sharp intelligence and a wry sense of humour that could lift any gathering.
The many tributes shared in his memory speak clearly of the man he was. “A true gentleman in every sense of the word.” Another message remembered “a man of great intelligence and gentle wit who was very kind to everyone he met.” Friends recalled that “Dave excelled at entertaining musically and vocally and brought great joy to many gatherings.” One colleague wrote simply, “It was always a pleasure to work with him.” And in words that capture the affection so many felt: “He hadn’t a bad bone in his body.” Through these memories Dave will be remembered not only for the years he lived, but for the laughter he shared, the kindness he showed, and the quiet dignity with which he lived his life.
Late of Carrigeenlea, Cliff Road, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of A.I.B. David passed peacefully in the loving care of the staff at Tramore Nursing Home on Tuesday the 3rd of March 2026. RIP.
