Family and friends remember John (Séan) Collins as a man who brought quiet strength and easy humour to every room he entered. Born and raised in Dublin Hill, Cork City, he carried his Cork wit with pride through life and service, whether as a Garda, a taxi driver, or a neighbour in Tramore. His greatest pride was his family. His beloved wife Margaret, his daughters Denise and Clair, and his two cherished grandsons, Noah and Aidan, were his world. He gave the best of himself to others, never letting sorrow dull his kindness.
Those who knew John speak of his witty, sharp humour and generous nature. “John was a genuinely kind man, always happy to help people young and old.” One friend recalled, “He was a true gentleman, always had a smile and time to chat.” In his community, in his friendships, and most of all in his family, John left a mark that cannot be erased. His love was steady, his presence constant, and his legacy lives on in every quiet act of care he gave. His was a life lived with depth, humour and honour. May his memory be a blessing to all who loved him.
Late of Sweetbriar Park, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of Marian Park, Dublin Hill, Cork City. Former member of An Garda Síochána. John passed peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Sunday the 12th of October 2025. RIP.
