Family and friends remember Janet Dunphy as a woman whose warmth and kindness made people feel instantly at ease. A devoted wife to Michael, a loving mother to Stephen, Julie and Jason, and a proud Nana to Dillon, Zackie, Leah and Emma, her family was the joy and purpose of her life. She adored every moment spent with them and treasured watching her family grow, especially becoming a great-grandmother to little Soph. The many messages shared following her passing paint a picture of someone who was genuinely loved by all who knew her. One friend wrote that she was “such a lovely lady, always had little chats in the shop,” while another remembered how she “always had a smile, a wave, or a friendly hello for everyone she met.” Those who worked alongside her described her as “such a beautiful person,” and many simply said she was “a lovely lady” whose kindness left a lasting impression.
Janet was part of the everyday heartbeat of Tramore. Whether catching up with neighbours, sharing stories with friends, or welcoming people with her cheerful nature, she had a gift for making others feel valued. One neighbour fondly recalled hearing Janet chatting over the garden fence as they grew up, remembering her as “a lovely, kind presence in our neighbourhood.” Another wrote that after their own difficult bereavement, Janet always had “a lovely gentle kind few words” and that “her family meant so much to her.” Perhaps the words that capture her best came from those who knew her longest: “A great woman who lived for her family… she loved you all, especially her grandchildren.” Janet leaves behind a lifetime of love, laughter and treasured memories that will continue to live on through Michael, Stephen, Julie, Jason, her grandchildren, her extended family and the many friends whose lives she quietly and beautifully touched.
Late of Riversdale , Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of Lacken Cottage, Kilbarry, Waterford City. Janet passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Sunday the 14th of June 2026. RIP.
