Family and friends remember Betty Twomey as a woman full of grace, humour, and strength, whose presence in Tramore was as familiar as the sea breeze on the Doneraile. Betty’s bright smile and warm heart lifted every room she entered, and she made time for everyone, whether walking her beloved dog Zoe along the beach or lending a listening ear to a friend in need. She was the kind of neighbour who left lasting memories, a true friend who gave her time freely, and a mother whose pride in her children and grandchildren knew no bounds. Even in her later years, Betty’s spirit remained unbreakable, her laughter contagious, and her dignity ever-present.
Those who knew Betty speak of her as “beautiful inside and out”, “a kind lady who always had a smile for everyone she met”, and “a Tramore icon with a positive attitude.” She will be remembered not only for her love of life and community, but also for her elegance, her strength, and her ability to find light in every day. She asked for colour at her farewell, and it’s no surprise, Betty always chose brightness over grey. Her family and friends now carry her light forward, warmed by the memories of a life well lived and a love that never faded.
Late of Church Road, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of Cove Road, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Betty passed peacefully on Thursday the 9th of October 2025. RIP.
