Family and friends remember Kathleen “Cathy” Riden as a lively, warm and much-loved woman whose story stretched from the streets of Waterford to Liverpool, while the people and places of home always remained close to her heart. Formerly of Peter Street and Rice Park, and once part of the Waterford Crystal community, Kathleen was remembered with great affection by those who knew her in her younger years. Friends spoke of “great memories” from Rice Park, of holidays spent together, and of a neighbour who was “always full of life and fun.” Others looked back fondly on Peter Street, recalling the friendships, family connections and happy times shared there before life eventually took Kathleen across the water to England.
Kathleen’s move to Liverpool never diminished those bonds. Old friends remembered visiting her and John in the UK, while others continued to carry warm memories of the woman they had known from Waterford. She was deeply loved by John, Darren and Lee, adored by Lois and Lyla, and treasured by those closest to her. There is something especially fitting in Kathleen’s final wish to return home to Waterford, where she will be laid to rest with her mother in St. Otteran’s Cemetery. May all who loved Cathy find comfort in the laughter, holidays, friendships and memories she leaves behind, and in knowing that after a life lived between Waterford and Liverpool, she has come home once more.
Late of Liverpool, England. Formerly of Peter Street and Rice Park, Waterford City. Formerly of Waterford Crystal. Kathleen passed peacefully on Sunday the 28th of June 2026. RIP.
