Family and friends remember Tony Collins as a man of quiet conviction and steady kindness, someone who never sought attention but whose presence was deeply felt wherever he went. Late of Sweetbriar Lawn and formerly of The Rock in Midleton, Tony was a devoted husband to Agnes and a proud and loving father to John, Paula, Michael, Dominique, Liz and Tim. Predeceased by his siblings Gerry, Ted, Paddy and Kathleen, he remained a constant source of strength within his family, a man whose love was shown not in grand gestures but in consistency, loyalty and care. His grandchildren, who brought him such pride and joy, knew him as someone always present, always interested, and always quietly guiding. As one tribute so simply and truthfully shared, he was “a truly devoted family man,” and those words sit at the heart of how he lived his life.
Beyond his home, Tony built a life rooted in community, friendship and principle. He will be remembered as “a gentleman in all his dealings,” a man respected not only for his work and contribution over many years in education, but for the way he carried himself with fairness, humility and a natural ease that put people at ease. In more recent times, people recall the quiet determination with which he showed up, standing alongside others and offering his presence with dignity and care. He was, as many have said, “kind, gentle, wise and humorous,” a man who could share a laugh just as easily as he could offer support, and whose conversations often left people better for having met him. To neighbours and friends, he brought warmth, good humour and a genuine interest in others into everyday life. A loving husband, a proud father and grandfather, a trusted colleague and a loyal friend, Tony will be deeply missed not just for who he was, but for how he made people feel, and in that, his presence endures quietly in the lives he touched.
Late of Sweetbriar Lawn, Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of The Rock, Midleton, Co. Cork. Tony passed peacefully but unexpectedly on Wednesday the 8th of April 2026. RIP.
