Family and friends remember Mary McGrath, known to many as Marie, as a warm-hearted woman whose life revolved around family, friendship and laughter. Late of Carriglong in Tramore and formerly of The Manor in Waterford City, Marie carried with her a lifetime of memories and friendships from the places she called home, including the years she spent in Coventry where many lasting bonds were formed. Predeceased by her beloved husband John, remembered by many as the love of her life, and by her brothers and sisters, Marie remained the centre of a large and devoted family. Her children John, Marina, Mandy, Glenn, Darren and Neil were the pride of her life, and nothing brought her greater happiness than the company of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Those who knew her speak of a woman who welcomed people easily into her home, someone whose humour, generosity and natural warmth made every gathering brighter.
The many tributes shared in her memory reflect the affection she inspired throughout her life. “She was always great company and up for a laugh.” Another remembered that “Marie always made you feel at home.” One tribute described her simply as “a genuinely lovely lady and a wonderful neighbour,” while another reflected the deep bond she held with her family: “She adored her family and they were always her priority.” And in words that capture the feeling of many, “She was one of the sweetest people you could meet.” Through these memories Marie will be remembered with love for the warmth she shared so freely, the friendships she cherished across many years, and the deep devotion that shaped her life and family.
Late of Carriglong Tramore, Co. Waterford. Formerly of The Manor, Waterford City. Marie passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Sunday, the 8th of March, 2026. RIP.
