When you lose someone you love, the world changes. The funeral may be over in a day, but the love, the memories, and the need for connection last a lifetime.
That’s why we built RIP Ireland.
Not as a business idea. Not as a quick project. But as a labour of love, a way to give families across Ireland a place to remember, to connect, and to be supported long after the funeral ends.
Today, as we relaunch with a redesigned offerings for both families and funeral directors, we want to share our journey, our struggles, and our belief that when families need it most, we will always be here.
Why this is personal
For us, Erich and Mark, RIP Ireland has never been “just work.”
Erich grew up in funeral care. He has seen, countless times, how families feel when everyone goes home after the funeral. That quiet moment when the phone stops ringing and the flowers begin to fade. It is in that silence that families need the most care.
Mark has lived through loss himself. He knows what it is to face the financial and emotional strain of saying goodbye. Through his work in technology, he also knew there had to be a way to make things easier, to create dignity and connection in a digital age.
Together, we gave nearly two years of our lives to this. We worked nights, made sacrifices, leaned on our families and friends, and kept going even when it felt impossible. Because we believe families deserve better.

Why we changed direction
When we first started, RIP Ireland looked more like a traditional notices platform. But something didn’t feel right. Families told us notices were important, but not enough.
What they really wanted was something lasting. Something they could return to. Something that didn’t just announce a death, but honoured a life.
So, we pivoted. We put aside what we thought the industry wanted, and we built what families told us they needed: memorial walls.
What a memorial wall really means
A memorial wall is not just a page. It is a living space for love, memory, and community.
On each wall, families and friends can:
- Share photos, stories, and memories.
- Light candles, day or night, from anywhere in the world.
- Leave condolences that comfort in the quiet hours.
- Make optional donations to chosen partners in their loved one’s name.
- Receive thoughtful gifts from local suppliers through their funeral director.
And here’s the most important part: every wall belongs to the family.
They create it. They own it. They moderate it. We are simply the platform that makes it possible.
Our new offering
For the past two months, we went quiet. But behind the scenes, we were working harder than ever, redesigning RIP Ireland, listening, and making our service stronger.

Here is what we are proud to now offer:
For families: create a memorial wall for just €29.99 a year. Affordable, transparent, and lasting.
For funeral directors: give every family you serve a free wall for just €49 a month. A simple way to offer more care, long after the funeral.
For communities: access to local gifts and services, so support can be shown in new and meaningful ways.
For everyone: a redesigned website that is easy to use, easier to share, and warmer in tone, built with care, not for profits.
This is not just a relaunch. It is a promise.
Why we won’t give up
We have faced resistance. We have felt the weight of tradition pushing back against change.
But families who have used RIP Ireland have told us the truth that matters most: this really helps. That’s our focus, to help families when they need it most.
They’ve lit candles at midnight. They’ve smiled at old photos shared by relatives overseas. They’ve felt the warmth of condolences when the house was quiet.
That is why we will never give up. Because this is not about us. It is about families, and about care that lasts longer than a single day.
Gratitude
We could not have come this far without our team, our families, and our friends. You have carried us through long nights and hard days. You have believed in us when it was easier not to.
Thank you. RIP Ireland is as much yours as it is ours.
A vision for the future
We believe technology should serve people, not profit by introducing fees in excess of €100 per notice.
We believe remembrance should be lasting, not fleeting.
We believe in transparency, fairness, and care.
And we believe Ireland deserves a platform that puts families first.
That is our vision. That is RIP Ireland.
Set up your wall today

If you are ready, we invite you to take a simple step:
Set up your memorial wall today.
For €29.99 a year, you can create a space for your loved one that lasts. Or, if you’re a funeral director, you can give every family a free wall for just €49 a month.
Together, we can build something meaningful, something that ensures love, memory, and community live on.
Erich and Mark’s Final words
This is not just a business. It is our calling.
We have poured nearly two years of our lives into RIP Ireland. We have faced challenges, losses, and resistance. But we are still here, because we believe families need an eco-system of support for when the funeral ends.
And when families need it most, RIP Ireland will be here.
With care,
Erich & Mark
